Space Pad Tile Texture - Substance Painter!

Hi ArtStation!
First Artwork of 2025! πŸŽ‰

This piece is a quick demo I prepared for my bootcamp students. πŸ“š
The bootcamp focuses on creating different types of textures using Substance Painter.

πŸ’¬ Why Substance Painter?
While Substance Designer is the king πŸ‘‘ (especially for me, thanks to its node-based system), Substance Painter is a fantastic partner because its layer-based workflow is easier to followβ€”at least according to my students.

One of my students recently asked:
"Can I make this texture in Painter?"
πŸ‘‰ https://www.artstation.com/artwork/dOvOxX

I was inspired by this piece (shoutout to Alex Beddows!) and decided to recreate the idea but this time in Substance Painter!

πŸ’‘ Why this project?
To create an easier workflow for artists who:

⬜ Are afraid of node-based systems
⬜ Still need to produce high-quality textures like this.

The Workflow :
πŸŸ₯ Create a rough idea in a 3D modeling package.
πŸŸ₯ Simulate the padded shapes in Marvelous Designer.
πŸŸ₯ Bake in Substance Painter.
πŸŸ₯ Add details and polish the texture in Painter.
πŸŸ₯ Bring it into Unreal Engine or Marmoset Toolbag for rendering.

That’s it!
Hope you like this project! If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to drop a comment or reach out to me! πŸ’¬ πŸ“©
